The agent of Chelsea winger Mohamed Salah admitted that he held talks with Italian giants Roma to secure a move for his client.
Kronenberg said,
“It is very likely he will leave Chelsea on loan, I spoke to Roma, but the cost of the operation is very high. He is on big wages at the moment and would like to maintain them. We will wait and see what happens.”
The former Basel forward has been linked with many big clubs across Europe over the past few months, but a deal has not been finalized yet. Premier League side Queens Park Rangers, who at present are in the relegation zone were also at one point, quite interested in acquiring Salah from their domestic rivals. The 22 year old has been looking for a move away in January with the lack of playing opportunities he has received at the club, this season.
Roma themselves have been quite interested in adding more quality and would definitely love to grab this opportunity with both hands. The Egyptian has made 13 appearances since his move to Chelsea and has managed to score just twice. He has failed to make any sort of impression in Chelsea shirt this season due to the lack of opportunities at the Bridge. With a list of Chelsea superstars in such prime form this season, a move away looks quite eminent , as the youngster has made a mere three appearances in the Premier League for the Blues.
Jose Mourinho has not been able to find a regular place for the young winger in his first team but the Portuguese manager is set to block any potential move due to concerns over lack of team depth.
Mourinho said after Swansea game,
“He can’t leave, I have 20 players today with Didier [Drogba] a bit ill and [Cesar] Azpilicueta injured,”
“I had all my players here today, just [Nathan] Ake in the stands.”
“I have a very short squad, I need everybody. For Salah to leave someone has to come, and I don’t think we are going to let Salah go on loan and then spend some money to bring somebody else in.”
