Arsenal Transfer News
Reports from Italy now suggest that Arsenal keeper Wojciech Szczesny will undergo a medical at the start of the upcoming week before joining Serie A side AS Roma. The Polish international lost his starting berth to Colombian international David Ospina last season and with Petr Cech’s arrival at the club, a loan move for a full season could be beneficial for all the parties involved.
TMW further added that Sky Italia had made claims that the Gunners’ goalie will be having a medical examination on either Monday or Tuesday prior to his move to Italy.
The two clubs have agreed a season long loan deal for the 25-year old superstar, after the sporting director of Roma Walter Sabatini successfully negotiated a deal with the Premier League giants.
And when quizzed about Szczesny during the pre-emirates cup presser, Arsene Wenger explained about the Pole’s situation and confirmed the player’s exit.
“He could go on loan to Roma,” Wenger said during the press conference. “We are pretty much done, it’s down to paperwork. As long as that’s not over the line, anything can happen.
“Szczesny is a top-class goalkeeper and we have three top goalkeepers. If one of the goalkeepers can play somewhere then it’s good.
“I believe he will have a future at Arsenal because I personally rate him highly. I put him in the first team at the age of 20 and he already has huge experience.
Szczesny has made a total of 132 appearances for the north London club, since making his first senior appearance in 2009.
