During the match between Tottenham and Crystal Palace on Sunday, Harry Kane was injured and had to be treated by on scene medical officials. The Tottenham striker was challenged by Crystal Palace’s Timothy Fosu-Mensah in the first half of the game, which resulted in a knee injury. Tottenham won the match 1-0 but spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino substituted Kane at 77 minutes, allegedly for his “protection”. The 24-year-old Kane was already recovering from a hamstring injury which saw him missing Tottenham’s game against Manchester united on October 28th. It can be argued that his absence was part of the reason Tottenham lost to Manchester United 1-0.

Harry Kane has been a force to be reckoned with since joining Tottenham’s premiere league team, the hotspurs, in 2013. Kane has been compared to Real Madrid Galacticos Owen, Ronaldo and Bale, for his impressive scoring and goals per minute ratio.

Since his debut in a UEFA Europa league game, he has delivered 86 premiere league goals and is ranked 11th on the list of leading scorers in Europe’s top 5 leagues. Other names on this list include Messi, Ronaldo, Suarez and Lewandowski to name a few. Kane’s strike rate, however brings him up to number eight and is calculated by his minutes per goal ratio. Kane has scored 17 goals in seventeen games this season and he is featured in some of the . He has been named for the England National team this year.

Some fans however, might suggest that the Spurs striker should be blocked from playing in England’s upcoming friendlies against Germany and Brazil, especially after recent events. With his existing hamstring injury and this new knee injury, Kane is obviously not 100%. It would be sad to see such a magnificent player not perform at his best on the world stage or risk further injury to himself.

This year’s England team is no stranger to injury. Since the naming of the selected players, quite a few players have been forced to withdraw from the squad due to injury. Fellow Tottenham players Dele Alli and Harry Winks have already withdrawn.

Dele Alli, the midfielder for both the Hotspurs and England was ruled out of the squad for both the Germany and Brazil matches with a hamstring injury. The injury was called minor by team boss Pochettino but Alli also missed the Tottenham versus Crystal Palace game on Sunday because of it.

Another teammate Harry Winks was also injured during the Spurs/Crystal Palace game when he twisted his ankle violently. Winks was treated by the medical staff and had to leave the game at half time.

Three other players, Raheem Sterling, Fabian Delph and Jordon Henderson have all pulled out of the England squad set to take on Germany and Brazil in November due to injuries. Chelsea centre-back Gary Cahill is another player that might have to withdraw pending a medical assessment from his team. England has had to call up a few uncapped players to fill in for the injured players namely West Brom midfielder Jake Livermore and Everton defender Michael Keene.

Fans of Harry Kane fear that their star player will be subjected to further injury if he is allowed to compete in the upcoming matches and obviously Tottenham agrees. As it stands, both Harry Kane and his team mate Harry Winks have been ruled out of the upcoming matches against Germany and Brazil. Tottenham fans can rest easy knowing that their favorite striker will be undergoing a few more days of rest and will be back on the field in no time. What do you think?
