With the final not until May 5th perhaps it is still too early to try and predict the outcome of the FA Cup, but there is one thing we know for certain and that is the showdown between Liverpool and Chelsea.
Chelsea cruised through with an emphatic 5-1 victory over Tottenham and people have described the game as ‘theirs to lose’. With that said the Blues fight for a Champions League spot is still a contentious battle, whilst their current campaign has matched them with the might of Barcelona.
There are plenty of games and twists and turns in this year’s dramatic season before the climax of the FA Cup final, but based on this weekend’s action we are set for an attacking, unpredictable and enthralling adventure.
Liverpool’s form may need to settle and calm, although looking at the last 34 games played in the league this seems unlikely. Chelsea’s rejuvenation under Di Matteo will be put to the test with their fixture with Barcelona and I predict these performances will shape their form heading into the tale of the season.
Liverpool’s victory over Everton may not look so impressive on paper in comparison to the other Semi-Final, but it was a job well done and another reminder that they just love a good cup run. Whilst Chelsea’s controversial penalty will overwhelm the blog sphere like a plague of locus they were simply the better team and jelled in a more natural tone to what we have seen this season.
Only time will tell how the two teams will line up, shape up and get down for the FA Cup boogie but the way I see it, for a disappointing league campaign the FA Cup trophy is Kenny Dalglish’s job saviour. It is theirs to win.
