Should Adebayor Return To The Etihad?

Emmanuel Adebayor has had a pretty good season at Tottenham Hotspur. The numbers speak for themselves as he’s racked up 17 goals in 36 appearances and 11 assists. So with his loan spell in London coming to an end, do City really want/need him back?

Emmanuel seems to have had a change in personality since moving back to North London.  He no longer has the ‘all about me’ complex that has seen him fall out of favour at both Arsenal and City and, more importantly, he’s producing the goods on the pitch.

Now that doesn’t necessarily mean he will fit straight back in at the Etihad, but it does show it can be done.

City could easily bring on the towering Togan forward and switch to a style similar to that of Tottenham.

Instead of Van der Vaart playing behind him put Sergio Aguero. Bring in the skill and quality of Samir Nasri to replace the outright pace and inconsistent crossing of Aaron Lennon and replace Luka Modric with David Silva as the creative genius. There are few strikers that would struggle to do well with that amount of talent around them.

It’s a second or even third option that could work well at Manchester City.

We’ve never seen the best out of Emmanuel in a City shirt, although we have seen glimpses of it, and right now I think there are many that would rather deal with him in the dressing room then watch the volatile Mario Balotelli blow up once again.

Edin Dzeko has been streaky at City, and that’s putting it mildly, and we all know what happened with Carlos Tevez.

Having Emmanuel back is a great option if Mancini does decide he wants to move some people on this summer and hopefully his time in London has brought him back down to Earth.
