With the news that Zlatan Ibrahimovic has left AC Milan for Paris St. Germain, the Rossoneri will have to work hard in order to replace the Sweden international. Ending his stay at the San Siro with 56 goals, and a further 27 assists, Milan will have to work hard in order to find the 30-year-old’s successor.
Many are of the opinion that Ibrahimovic is over-rated, despite his stats proving on the contrary. A regular goalscorer throughout his career means the Serie A giants will have to work hard in order to fill the 6ft 5in void that has now left Italy for France. A physical phenomenon capable of bringing others into the game, whilst regularly finding the back of the net, a player of similar capabilities is required to replace the Sweden captain.
As such, Milan have been linked with a host of big name players as they look to secure the new striker to lead the front-line; Liverpool’s Andy Carroll and Manchester City duo Carlos Tevez and Edin Dzeko, the latter in particular is believed to be on their radar. Yet, if they are looking for a like-for-like striker, the Italian outfit should be moving for Manchester United outcast Dimitar Berbatov
Similar in demeanour, style of play and personality traits, it is unsurprising to see Milan linked with the classy Bulgarian. Capable of bringing team-mates into the action whilst equally prolific in front of goal, Berbatov would be a steal for just the reported £5m he is available for. Granted, he doesn’t fit in with the mould that President Silvio Berlusconi is going for, but for a short-term replacement, he would be ideal to soften the blow of Ibrahimovic leaving.
