He’s the one player that Roberto Mancini demands, but as of yet is unable to sign. With Manchester City once again keen on acquiring AS Roma star man Daniele De Rossi, the gladiatorial midfielder remains on the wish list of the Italian.
It is no real surprise to see City retain a strong interest in the 29-year-old. It’s fair to assume that De Rossi is one of, if not the, best in his position. His strength in the middle of the park, coupled with his immense talent at he does, see’s rival football fans look on in envy at the player in the Roma camp.
Yet, it appears the Giallorossi head coach Zdenek Zeman isn’t a fan of De Rossi. The combative midfielder didn’t start his sides recent 4-1 win over Palermo and has made just six Serie A appearances for Roma this season.
Fans are, understandably, frustrated with his lack of playing time and potential sale. This is a man dubbed Capitan Futuro, with the Roma faithful believing him to be the heir apparent to the throne, once Francesco Totti relinquishes the armband.
Nevertheless, Zeman appears reluctant to trust De Rossi and, as a result, a January move has been mooted. With City stuttering, both domestically and in the Champions League, the Italian is just the man to reignite the fire in the belly of the Manchester beast.
It’s no surprise to have seen Mancini remain keen on the midfielder, having previously tried to sign him in the last two transfer windows. Now, after reports suggest he has instructed Txiki Begiristain to sign De Rossi for him, will it be third time’s a charm for the City manager? The 47-year-old would like to think so.
