Tottenham Hotspur manager has admitted he won’t be adding Brazilian Leandro Damiao to his squad this January.
“Leandro is a player we’ve always appreciated, that this club appreciated before I arrived, but it’s extremely difficult that he’s going to join Tottenham,” Villas-Boas said.
“He’s a player that is highly rated in the market, and it’s unlikely that he will play for Tottenham.”
The Spurs boss has only Jermaine Defoe and Emmanuel Adebayor, who is soon to leave North London to represent Togo at the African Cup Of Nations in South Africa at the end of the month.
AVB’s squad is short of firepower this season, Jermaine Defoe is thir top scoer with 10 league goals this season but the England international is yet to find the net this year, scoring his last goal in the 4-0 win over Aston Villa on Boxing Day.
It seems Daniel Levy is still dictating transfer targets at White Hart Lane but is unwilling to dip in to his pockets for the £20 million it would take to deliver Damiao from Brazilian side Internacional.
