FA Cup replay – Can the Blues beat the Whites?

Neil Warnock takes his Leeds United team to face Birmingham City on Tuesday night in a FA Cup 3rd round replay, but who will progress?

Well, going off the form books you would have this one down as a drab game of football as neither team have been setting the Championship alight of late, Birmingham with just 3 wins in 15 games leaving them 2 places above the drop-zone, and with Leeds winning only 1 of their last 5 in all competitions they continue to float around the middle of the table.

When Birmingham arrived at Elland Road last weekend they were determined to progress into the 4th round to distract them from their harrowing league form, and they looked in good stead when Wade Elliott fired the Blues into the lead in the first half, but  Luciano Becchio’s 19th of the season levelled the game and forced a replay.

Birmingham have won just 4 home games from their 13 so far in the Championship and conceded 20 goals, but Leeds’ away form is nothing to shout about either. Their current record stands at 3 wins, 3 draws and 8 losses away from Elland Road so this one could go either way.

Leeds host bottom of the league Bristol City in their outing after the FA Cup replay, whereas St Andrews will see Brighton and Hove Albion arriving to try and snatch the 3 points to take back to the south Coast.

Could the history between the two clubs spice this fixture up? Time will tell.
