Harry Redknapp is certainly a determined man. After the Portuguese defender turned down a switch to QPR for the THIRD time, Redknapp is currently preparing another attempt to lure him to Loftus Road in place of the departed Ryan Nelson.
Rolando was born in Cape Verde but moved to live in Portugal as a teen and has since been handed citizenship of the country, and in 2006 he began to work on his international career with the country. After 7 appearances for the U21 side, he jumped to the senior team and has so far played part in 18 games since 2009.
He signed at Portuguese side Belenenses as a youngster, but after 4 years and over 100 appearances for the club he was poached by Porto. He has been an integral part to their success because of his dominance in the air and his composure on the ball, and since his arrival at Porto he has won a range of silverware.
3 Portuguese league titles, 3 Portuguese cups, 4 Portuguese Super Cups and a Europa League title can all be gloated about by the 27-year-old from his 4 year stint at the club.
Rolando is a modern-style centre-back who strives to play the ball on the floor, but he has a warrior’s spirit and enjoys a battle, something which QPR are well and truly in right now to try and retain their topflight status.
