The 2012/13 season has already seen so much happen; managers being sacked left right and centre (and that’s just at Blackburn), United have pretty much run away with the title and there are no English teams left in the Champions League.
However, this season’s greatest story is just developing and it is an unbelievably exciting prospect. A new footballing superpower has emerged and is ready to burst onto the international scene in an incredible fashion.
Norwegian side Vidar FC have seen their social media following explode in the last week, and they have announced their 30 year plan that culminates in them winning the most elusive of trophies – the Champions League.
Vidar had 80 followers before their first tweet and now have 1,324 after they were given a helping hand from the ex-Soccer AM presenter Tim Lovejoy, who tweeted encouraging people to follow and get behind the Norwegian second division side.
The club predicted want-away striker Peter Odemwingie would soon be turning up at their training ground and later tweeted: “Sorry for not tweeting yesterday but were out celebrating today’s victory against Viking B.”
They refer to the manager, Gaute Johannessen, as Gaute “3 points” Johannessen and have promised to “hammer everyone”.
The whole thing is obviously tongue-in-cheek and it is that humour and the way they interact with fellow twitter users that has charmed the football masses.
Follow them at VidarIFC and join the revolution #CL2043.
