The thought of last season’s dramatic finale that saw Manchester City snatch the title away from Manchester United with the last kick of the season still send tingles down the spine of every football fan. However, the blue half of Manchester were completed outclassed by their neighbours this time round and Manchester United secured the trophy with their 3-0 victory over Aston Villa this week.

It is difficult to put a finger on what exactly has gone wrong for Roberto Mancini’s side. Some say it is the manager’s choice of splitting up the centre-back partnership of Vincent Kompany and Joleon Lescott for new signing Matija Nastasic. Some say it was the signings of two players in particular, both listed in our top 5, and the fact that Manchester United signed the goal-gobbler Robin van Persie from Arsenal in the summer.

Whatever the reason is, the Premier League title is no longer theirs and they now have to start the lengthy procedure in winning it back.

Here we have a list of City’s 5 least effective players in the league this season based on statistics. All players have played at least five games in the league this season, and we have added a selection of videos to show what they are capable of.

To start, we have a former Manchester City player who has gone on to make a villain of himself, Joey Barton. Enjoy.
