It was reported in several news papers and confirmed on BBC Sport’s Twitter page today that half a million Dortmund fans have applied for just 24 thousand tickets for the Champions League final at Wembley in three weeks time. Jurgen Klopp’s team will face German rivals Bayern Munich in the Champions league final in London on the 25th May.
It was thought that 250,000 Dortmund fans had applied for tickets within 24 hours of the team reaching the final and since then that number has doubled. Each team have only had 24,000 tickets allocated to them but you can be sure that both teams will be bringing a full capacity crowd, and you can expect that many fans will travel to London looking for tickets around the ground and just to be part of the atmosphere.
When Dortmund played Real Madrid in the semi finals thousands of fans travelled to the Spanish capital without a ticket just to party in the streets ahead of the tie and then continue to party even harder afterwards knowing that they were in the final. They have an extraordinary support that has followed them all over Europe and they can now all look forward to a mouth watering tie against their closest German rivals Bayern in the final.
So come May 25th London can expect a huge German invasion but it is sure to be one big party for everyone there. Here is a video of the huge amount of support Borussia Dortmund brought with them to Manchester when they played Man City in the group stages earlier in the competition.
