Sir Alex Ferguson is widely recognised as the greatest football manager in world history. There will probably never, ever be another like Fergie as the game plunges deeper into the pockets of big investors who relieve their gaffers from their duties at the drop of a hat, so let us rejoice in the fact we were lucky enough to witness Sir Alex build his empire rather than be sad he will be moving into another role.
After 26 years, 38 major trophies and the treasure chest of memories that he has offered us, Manchester United will have the formidable task of replacing Sir Alex Ferguson.
The favourite for the job is Everton boss David Moyes, who himself has spent 11 years at the top of the Toffees churning out wins with a minimal budget. His determination to better his players whilst squeezing every last ounce of ability from them on match day has won the Scot a lot of fans around the country.
Another name which has been brandished around is Jose Mourinho. The Real Madrid manager was heavily linked with the vacancy which will arise in the summer at Stamford Bridge, but Fergie’s departure has sparked rumours that the Special One will be on his way to Old Trafford.
Whoever it is, we will be finding out this weekend. Until then, have a watch of our clip running through the contenders.
