Edinson Cavani – a taster (Video)

You’d think that a team with a front pairing of Luis Suarez and Edinson Cavani would be quite a formidable opponent, no?

If you said yes after reading that sentence then, like me, you would have been surprised at the tame manner in which Uruguay exited the Confederations Cup to Brazil. I’m not sure why Uruguay manager Oscar Tabarez deploy his team so deep, but that is often a poor choice and so it proved.

Of course you don’t want to leave yourself open to a swift Brail counter attack but if you have Cavani and Suarez at your disposal it is important that you utilise them the best you can. So, there you go Mr Tabarez, stick that in your pipe and smoke it.

Anyway, the Confederations Cup gave us all a chance  to take a closer look at Cavani who has been heavily linked with a move away from Napoli to the good ‘ol Premier League with Chelsea and Manchester City leading the charge.

Thing is, though, Cavani has a £53m release clause in his contract which, quite understandably, is proving to be a bit of a stumbling block with regards to transfer negotiations.

Is he really worth that much? I guess this is just the way football is right now and if you want the very best you have to cough up some serious money.

Despite Napoli’s rather steep valuation of their star I would say that it is odds on that Cavani will be making his way to the Premier League sooner rather than later and just to give you a little taster of what to expect (should you not watch Serie A) here is one of those nifty YouTube compilation videos.
