Will striker have enough to fire Arsenal to the Premier League title?

Talks between Arsenal, Gonzalo Higuain and Real Madrid are still ongoing to complete the striker’s deal to north London, but would the move transform the Gunners into real title contenders?

The Argentina international is one of the most prolific scorers across the European topflights and continued you his strong goals to games ratio last season in La Liga with 16 goals in 28 games. Should the £25m move to the Emirates happen then you get put your mortgage on the fact the frontline will be built around him, with the likes of Theo Walcott, Santi Cazorla and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain ghosting just behind.

Arsene Wenger has supposedly got a reasonable chunk of money to reinforce his squad to challenge the two Manchester clubs and also Chelsea, who look to be in the hunt for the title, and with Julio Cesar almost a done deal from Queens Park Rangers and Yaya Sanogo on a free transfer they look well on their way. If Lars Bender were to make an arrival from Bayer Leverkusen in the coming weeks then the first team looks solid enough to challenge any, but what if it stays as it is?

Arsenal finished just six points behind second placed-City last season, and although United ran away with the league you’d have thought Higuain’s efficiency in front of goal will have propelled them up the table.
