Arsene Wenger’s recent transfer dealings reminds me of a child getting his first pocket money. After years of not knowing what it is like to spend money on items – or players in this case – his financial shackles were finally let loose and it ended in a splurt of cash on an in-fashion outlet [Mesut Ozil]. Now, after getting a taste of splashing the cash, Wenger is supposedly after another chunk of money from the board – who are reportedly happy for him to have it – to invest in more quality for his title-challenging squad.
The Daily Mail are now reporting that the Gunners are willing to throw some money at AC Milan in order to gain the services of Italian bad boy Mario Balotelli. Incredible, eh?
Just nine months after the troubled forward signed for the capital side in Serie A it seems that his normal tricks are forcing him out of the club. His stinky attitude has landed him in trouble at the San Siro on a few occasions, but there are also claims that he’s unhappy with the racism apparently present in the league.
A deal could be done for a suggested fee of £12m, although I’m not sure the Gunners will feel that it is worth the baggage that comes with him. Just take a minute to remember the uproar from some of the north London side’s fans when it was suggested Luis Suarez was on his way. And he had scored 23 – yes TWENTY THREE – Premier League goals the year prior.
So, Gunners – would you welcome Super Mario into your side?
