Tottenham’s sale of Gareth Bale ensured that they could splash out on other areas of the squad this summer, and while every position is looking strong, there is one position that looks slightly lacking to me – the left-back area.
Danny Rose has held the position so far this term with Benoit Assou-Ekotto on loan at Queens Park Rangers, with Jan Vertonghen playing there when needed. The Belgian is a left-sided centre-back who has experience on the flank, but the Metro are reporting that Andre Villas-Boas is looking to snapping up another option.
The paper is suggesting that the north London sides are keeping tabs on none other than Romelu Lukaku’s younger brother Jordan, who plies his trade at left-back with Belgain outfit Oostende. He is currently on loan at the club from Anderlecht, the club Chelsea signed Romelu in 2011, and could follow his brother to the Premier League.
The 19-year-old has been part of the Belgian set up right from U15 to U21 level where he has now played nine games, as well as earning eight appearances for the Anderlecht first team.
Will he have the same effect as his brother should he make the move?
Romelu has scored four goals in three games this season after scoring 17 league goals for West Brom last time out.
