When you lose a world class player, it can be very difficult to rectify. You can either go down the route that Tottenham did in the summer when they lost Gareth Bale and reinforce the entire squad, or you can splash money on a single player akin to Mesut Ozil at Arsenal. Talk is still ongoing regarding Chelsea’s frontline this season and whether or not they will splash some cash to bring in a big money striker.
The Mirror are reporting that the man to do that could be Diego Costa, who will cost the Blues around £35m if they are to prize him away from his current club Atletico Madrid, so let’s take a closer look at the 25-year-old.
Madrid have had a fine season so far, winning their first eight of the campaign before falling to a 1-0 loss against Espanyol. Costa has been integral to that, scoring 10 goals in nine games to put him top of the La Liga scoring charts.
The stocky forward has also created 17 chances this season, completed 75% of his passes and hit the target with 73% of his shots. His direct style of play is something that would suit Chelsea, being without Romelu Lukaku until next season, and he would certainly be a better option than Fernando Torres or Demba up top.
Will Jose Mourinho get his man?
