The festive season is almost upon us, and that means we are nearing the January transfer window. So, after 10 Premier League games played, I take a look at the potential transfer dealings of Arsenal.
Where are they weak?
A lot of Arsenal fans have been calling for another top-quality centre-back to be drafted in for some time now but the backline is starting to look like it’s old self of late.
Laurent Koscielny’s start to the season was dire at best, after picking up a red card and giving away two penalties in the first few games, but it seems as though he has settled again and is proving to be a solid partner for Per Mertesacker.
Other pockets of fans are after a striker, after the club supposedly missed out of both Luis Suarez and Gonzalo Higuain in the summer. Olivier Giroud has played well so far this season but there is next to no support for the Frenchman.
Who have they been linked with?
Luis Suarez – Liverpool
Yohan Cabaye – Newcastle
Fernando Llorente – Juventus
Who do they need?
For me, another forward is needed and Llorente fits the bill. It’s been said that the Spaniard is after some first team football to win his place in the Spain squad for the World Cup, and he isn’t presently getting it with the wealth of options that Juve have.
