Ah, another week, another Ashley Young dive. That’s right, on Tuesday evening as Manchester United searched for a winner against Real Socieadad, Young did what he does best as he went down with a gust of wind and won a penalty for his team.
Is this his sole function now? He doesn’t do much else, to be fair, so perhaps David Moyes assigns him the task of falling over easily to win a penalty when United desperately need a goal. Sir Alex Ferguson used him similarly, too, and, along with Gareth Bale, you have to consider Young as one of the biggest cheaters in European football.
How does he still get away with it? Refs soon got wise to Bale, as he was often booked for simulation even when there was contact; a case of reputation proceeding him. The same clearly doesn’t apply to Young as he consistently wins penalties unfairly. The fact that Moyes refuses to publicly reprimand him gives him license to continue his diving ways.
Anyway, this Taiwanese news station decided to take a satrical look at Young’s cheeky ways and they put together this very impressive cartoon mocking the great man. Why can’t we have more news reports like this? It would certainly spice things up a bit from the usual nonsense punditry. Yes, that’s the answer; animate everything.
I wonder if Young is happy with his reputation as king of dives? He used to be a decent little player but now he is just notorious for cheating.
