Jose Mourinho’s return to Stamford Bridge has seen Chelsea start brightly, but there is always room for improvement. Here are three players who I would like the Blues to sign in January to boost their title hopes.
1) Diego Costa – Atletico Madrid
The La Liga forward is in incredible form – scoring 13 in 13 in the league and another three in two Champions League games. A big, bulky striker with a bit of a mean streak, the Brazilian-born Spain international – although he is yet to play – has taken the Spanish topflight by storm this season and would be an ideal spearhead for the Blues attack.
Last season he scored 20 games for the capital club but was somewhat overshadowed by Radamel Falcao, who is now at Monaco.
2) Equilim Mangala – Porto
The giant defender is someone who has been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge for some time now, and rightly so in my opinion. He is big, strong and good on the ball – everything that Jose Mourinho is probably looking for. The 22-year-old is a full France international who started his footballing life at Standard Liege.
3) Sami Khedira – Real Madrid
Another player who has been linked with the Blues is Madrid midfielder Khedira, who was under Mourinho’s wing last season at the Santiago Bernabeu.
This season he has played 11 games in the league, scoring once and completing 85% of his passes, while also appearing four times in the Champions League.
