If I asked you to tell me three things about Max Meyer, you would probably look at me blankly or ask me if I was referring to the actor who portrayed Austin Powers. You may, though, remember him from when Chelsea thrashed Schalke in the Champions League not long ago, as the 18-year-old is an up and coming Bundesliga sensation, who the Daily Star are now reporting is conjuring up interest at Stamford Bridge.
The little playmaker fits in with the type of player that Mourinho currently holds behind the forward in west London – he’s delicate on the ball, he has the utmost creativity, guile and awareness and he is able to beat a man.
Standing at only 5ft7, Meyer is a player who is able to nip between defenders and create himself pockets of space. The fact that he has been successful in 28/37 of his take ons this season suggests that he has all the ingredients to make an opponent’s life a living hell for 90 minutes.
He has made seven key passes this season in the German topflight and scored three goals, and his pass completion is also pretty impressive, standing at 71%.
Words can only tell you so much, so here is a clip of the little wizard in action to whet your whistles.
