Have Arsenal found the spark that has deserted them for so long? Has Arsene Wenger reinvigorated his squad enough for the Gunners to make a realistic Premier League title challenge? Will the north London outfit finally get their hands on some elusive silverware? Whatever the answer is to the questions, there have been plenty of positives to look at so far this season. The form of Per Mertesacker, Mathieu Flamini and Aaron Ramsey is what I want to concentrate on, though.
We’ll start with the Germany international, Mertesacker. This term he has completed 8/10 of his tackles, 20/32 of his headers and 100% of his attempted take ons, which is impressive for such a lanky player.
He has averaged six defensive actions per game and completed 91% of his passes, as well as displaying incredible leadership abilities.
Onto Flamini now, who arrived at the Emirates on a free deal, would you believe? He has also completed 91% of his tackles and won 100% of his take ons, as well as accruing a shot accuracy of 100%.
He has defended the back four brilliantly so far this term and the Gunners have looked a lot weaker without him.
The standout player of the side, though, has to be Ramsey. He has scored six league goals, and another five in other competitions, as well as making 13 key passes.
He has completed 85% of his passes and hit the target with 74% of his efforts.
Ramsey has been a revelation this term, I think you’d agree, as have the other two.
