When you have a trio of strikers in your side, and between them they have scored just three goals this season, you know something isn’t quite right. While Fernando Torres has two, Samuel Eto’o has scored one and Demba Ba has zero, the man that the Express are linking them with has far more.
Not only does Robert Lewandowski have nine goals in his 12 Bundesliga appearances, but he also has three goals in his four Champions League appearances.
The 25-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season and is being chased by the likes of Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and Arsenal, but Jose Mourinho seems intent on landing a goal-getter in the new year, and the Poland international could well be the one.
He has lead the line at Borussia Dortmund for four seasons now, scoring nine, 30, 36 and 13 this time round in his respective seasons, and is now widely regarded as one of the top strikers in Europe.
He isn’t the paciest, nor the strongest, but his movement is incredible. He can push and pull defenders out of position and open up space for himself and his team-mates.
He’s decent in the air, too.
