Robert Lewandowski is out of contract in the summer, and while Borussia Dortmund have no choice but to watch his name be thrown around linked to other clubs, ITV are reporting that Chelsea are ready to make the Poland international an offer he can’t refuse. But should they sign the 25-year-old, what will they be getting?
Lewandowski is a player who has burst onto our screen over the last few years because of his scintillating form for the Bundesliga giants. He has a remarkable tally in each of his seasons – 30 goals in 2011/12, 36 goals last season and another 13 this time round in just 17 games.
His movement is superb – he can spin off defenders or drop short for the ball, but he’s at his sharpest when deep inside the opposition box. He pulls players in and out of position and is able to create space for himself in a click of his fingers.
He is a striker of accuracy, when he is presented with a chance he more often than not sticks it in the back of the net.
This could be the final piece of the puzzle should Jose Mourinho sweet talk him to Stamford Bridge, as his trio of strikers have scored just three between them this term.
