Player Report: Arsenal Consider Move For Bayern Munich Defender, But What Could He Offer?

With Bacary Sagna’s Arsenal future looking uncertain, reports have naturally started appearing about who Arsene Wenger may potentially replace the right-back with. One man whose name has popped up – in an exclusive report from Sports Direct News – is Bayern Munich’s Rafinha, who has played in 13 of the Bavarian’s 14 Bundesliga games this season.

The German giants are yet to lose in the league this season and he has been a large part of that. He’s taken on Pep Guardiola’s passing approach to the game – completing 89% of his passes – and has created more opportunities going forward than Frenchman Sagna.

Last season if you had suggested that the Brazil international would leave last season’s treble winners for a side without a trophy in eight years I would have laughed in your face, politely, of course. Now, though, it seems as though Arsenal are serious about ending their wait for a trophy as they sit four points clear at the top of the Premier League.

Rafinha is a skilful player who loves bombing forward in the wide areas and he is often the winner in any duels that occur – he has won 10 of his 18 attempted take ons in the league and won the majority of his tackles, as well as averaging four defensive actions per game in the Champions League.

Rafinha seems like a step up from the aging-Sagna and should Wenger be able to land the full-back then the Gunners’ defence would certainly be better off for it.
