It has been some week for Everton – first the Toffees travelled to Manchester United and returned to Merseyside with the three points in hand. They then travelled to Arsenal on Sunday afternoon and arguably out-played league leaders Arsenal, picking up a point in what was the first draw at the Emirates this season. After 15 games, Everton have still only lost once, but could they do the unthinkable and challenge for the title?
It may seem absurd as we are so used to the same teams fighting it out, but the way I look at it is, why not?
They have lost the least amount of games in the entire league, having played the top four and beating the top two in the league.
They have a fresh, young manager who is implementing a certain style on the club and they have an incredible fanbase who are strongly behind the Spaniard.
They have an incredible spine to their team – Phil Jagielka and Sylvain Distin at the heart of defence with James McCarthy and Gareth Barry sitting in front of them and Romelu Lukaku leading the line – a striker who scored 17 league goals last season for West Brom.
They are seven points behind Arsenal going into next weekend’s action, but can they challenge for the league? Well, why not?
