Don’t you just love the January transfer window? It’s as if the names of players are put into one hat, the names of the clubs into the other, and whichever two they pull out and link together ends up on the back page of our papers, or slapped all over the online publications.
Arsenal and Liverpool are said to be chasing Marseille midfielder Mathieu Valbuena, but the 29-year-old has supposedly ruled out a move this month.
He has though, hinted that a move in the summer could be in his thoughts, so should the Premier League pair go back in the summer? Let’s take a look at what he’s about.
Standing at little over 5ft6, Valbuena is an attacking midfield player who loves to deliver balls into the strikers. He is very much like Santi Cazorla, just more of a central player, and his awareness could enhance what is already a remarkable Arsenal attacking unit.
Liverpool are also the sort of side that could benefit, as Brendan Rodgers continues his strive for silky players.
Having played the vast majority of his career for French giants Marseille, it comes as no shock that Arsene Wenger is supposedly a long term-admirer, and he will know better than anybody that he is still capable of playing at the top.
For me, I think a summer move could be a good idea.
