Arsenal are a side with a strong choice of full-backs – or at least it would seem so on paper.
Bacary Sagna has been one of the most consistent players in the Premier League over the last five years or so and they have a young, promising replacement in Carl Jenkinson.
On the other side Kieran Gibbs is fancied by many as one of the best English full-backs in the league and Nacho Monreal has also showed flashes of brilliance since his arrival.
However, the Gunners have struggled on both sides of defence at times this season, so with Arsene Wenger recalling young wing-back Hector Bellerin from his loan spell at Watford, it got me thinking whether or not he’s worth a punt.
The 18-year-old Italian started his career in the Barcelona youth sides and was snapped up by Arsenal last year. He appeared for the north London side in the League Cup against West Brom, though he was a 95th minute substitute.
He is a rapid player who thrives when given a license to roam, but he has also shown that he can be relied upon in the defensive areas.
The step up from Championship to the topflight is certainly a big one, but considering the amount of games and the questionable form of some of the current choices, perhaps he could be thrown into the mix.
Gooners, what do you think?
