According to reports, Liverpool are in advanced talks to sign Real Madrid full-back Fabio Coentrao this summer, despite Manchester United also supposedly in the frame. Patrice Evra is out of contract in the summer and it is unsure that he will stay at the club, while Liverpool have struggled to fill the left-back berth before the fine form of Jon Flanagan in the latter stages. But what could Coentrao offer, and where should he go?
The Portugal international is as good a left-back you can pick up these days, unless you splash huge amounts of money on the elite.
The 26-year-old has played for Benfica and Real Madrid, of interest, and has 44 caps for the Portuguese national side.
For me, he should be going to Manchester United. With Evra on the brink of leaving the club he would surely be the number one in that position and I feel with the license to get forward he could make a real impact at Old Trafford.
Liverpool have Jose Enrique coming back from injury and Flanagan currently performing well, and with Brendan Rodgers preferring youngsters I think he should look elsewhere.
United fans would you want him at Old Trafford? And Liverpool supporters, who would you like to see at left-back next year?
