Brendan Rodgers likes his side to play the Spanish way. His side knock the ball about until the opposition open themselves up and then they steam through them with slick, fast-paced attacking football. Keeping that in mind, here are three La Liga players who I think Liverpool should be looking at this summer.
1) Alex Song – Barcelona
The former Arsenal midfielder would slot nicely into the Liverpool side, in my opinion. His passing is sublime, his vision even more so, and the way he breaks up opponent attacks is great to watch. Alongside Steven Gerrard I think he’d be brilliant, and he’d also add more depth to the squad which will be vital for the Champions League.
2) Martin Montoya
Liverpool need a left-back, and they don’t come more exciting that Barca defender Martin Montoya. The 22-year-old has only played 12 La Liga games this season but has averaged 2.9 tackles, 2.1 clearances and 1.4 interceptions per game.
He’s quick, he loves to get forward and has a delivery on him as strong as any winger.
3) Diego Godin – Atletico Madrid
Liverpool need to sort their defence out, and this man would go some way towards doing so. Godin has been superb for Atletico this season and is a big reason why they could win the league. So far this term he has averaged 7.2 clearances per game, three interceptions and has made a total of 54 tackles.
