Manchester United travel to Bayern Munich this evening looking to beat a side who have proved to be the strongest in Europe for some time. The Bavarians have already won the Bundesliga and will be hoping to progress into the next round of the Champions League, so here are three Manchester United players who can make the difference for the Red Devils.
1) Nemanja Vidic
Despite him moving to Inter in the summer, Vidic has continued to put in some sterling performances this season and is still Manchester United’s first choice centre-back.
He is one of the toughest defenders I have ever seen in professional football and Bayern will do well to get the better of him tonight if he puts in a shift.
2) Ryan Giggs
Although he hasn’t made an impact in the Premier League this season, Ryan Giggs’ performances in the Champions League have been superb. The reduced tempo has allowed him to dictate games from the middle of the pitch and I think he will be important against the formidable midfield of Bayern.
3) Shinji Kagawa
The little Japan international is finally finding some form under David Moyes thanks to the creativity of Juan Mata. The former Chelsea is cup-tied for tonight though, so Kagawa will have to do it alone.
It’s likely that he will sit in front of Wayne Rooney this afternoon which could be enough to batter the Bayern defence.
