Arsenal supporters had their heads in their hands on Saturday evening, as Championship side Wigan Athletic took them to penalties in their FA Cup semi-final. The Gunners eventually progressed to the final, but it was a poor performance from most involved, so here are three players who I believe should be dropped for their upcoming tie with Hull.
1) Lukas Podolski
The Germany international struggled at the weekend and was eventually take off as a result. He added pace and a sense of urgency to the side, but his passing was poor and he failed to get in behind the Wigan defence.
For me he is best off the best bench and should be used solely as a super sub for the rest of the season.
2) Nacho Monreal
The Spaniard was one of the best left-backs in La Liga before he joined the Gunners but his performances of late have been dismal. Callum McManaman ran him ragged throughout the game, while Monreal’s positioning was continuously shoddy.
3) Aaron Ramsey
Ramsey is feeling his way back into the side after his injury, I know that. However, he failed to get the better of the Wigan midfield and was a reason why they found it so easy to penetrate the north London side.
Like Podolski, I would suggest using him off the bench for the rest of the season.
