Chelsea are confident that they can have the best of both worlds next season, by securing the £50 million striker Diego Costa and keep Thibaut Courtois. How very greedy.
The Daily Mirror has reported that Chelsea will offer Atletico Madrid a £50 million transfer fee and Diego Costa £185,000 a week, if he comes to Stamford Bridge in the summer.
Cheslea boss Jose Mourinho is determined to clear out his current forward line and start fresh, with Costa acting as the spearhead next season.
Mourinho is slowly but surely re-shaping this Chelsea side into a fast and physical side, almost a hybrid of his team he had in his first stint in West London and the Real Madrid side he had last season.
Next season he wants a powerhouse midfield with the re-sign Nemanja Matic as the base with quick and dynamic wide players in the form of Hazard, Willian and Schurrle.
He will have his Drogba mark II in Diego Costa, a fast, powerful target man who can beat the opposition with skill and most importantly, clinical when given opportunities.
However, next season goalkeeper will no doubt be interesting. It’s reported that Mourinho wants keep Courtois and for him to battle Cech for the number one spot.
Although, with Courtois becoming one of the best goalkeepers in the world over the past two seasons will he want to risk sitting on the bench?
And will Petr Cech want to fight for a spot that has been his for more than 10 years?
