According to the Daily Telegraph, Arsenal are going to have to fight off interest from Paris Saint Germain , Monaco and Bayern Munich if they want Laurent Koscielny to stay at the club next season. For me it’s an easy decision. If I was Arsene Wenger I would just let him leave the Emirates.
Per Mertesacker is the number one centre-half at Arsenal and for the last two seasons Koscielny has been favoured to Thomas Vermaelen to partner the big German.
However, the Frenchman has struggled to change my mind on his capabilities. He has a knack of losing focus in the important games and has cost Arsenal a number of points this season.
He’s incredibly slow on his feet and when a striker runs at him he is easily beaten, leaving whoever is in the full-back position to come across and try to cover.
He is strong in the air, I’ll give him that, but his sluggish play on the deck is more than enough a reason to let him find a new home in the summer.
I would look to move for a younger, pacier, more dynamic centre-back to come in and partner Mertesacker, and I know I am not alone in my thought process.
