The World Cup is a marvellous occasion, obviously, but Premier League managers will undoubtedly see it as a negative thing. Not only is there a risk of their star players picking up injuries before the new season, but it also inflates players’ transfer values by a ridiculous standard should they have a good couple of games. David Moyes is a manager who wants to do his business before the tournament kicks off, according to reports, so here are three players who I think he should move for.
1) Marco Reus
The Germany international is all set to have a huge success at the World Cup and I think his already-massive price tag will increase further. He has so far scored 19 goals between the Bundesliga and Champions League, and has claimed 12 assists.
What a player.
2) Ivan Rakitic
A central midfielder who can defend, keep the ball moving and most impressively create a huge number of attacks. The Sevilla playmaker has 12 La Liga goals and 10 assists, which is quite incredible considering he is a central midfielder.
Get him in, Moyes.
3) Eliaquim Managala
The powerful centre-half is exactly what the Old Trafford side need with Nemanja Vidic leaving the club and Rio Ferdinand’s future looking bleak. He is a much silkier player than both of those, and is stronger, faster and better in the air. Which considering Vidic’s aerial prowess, says a hell of a lot.
