Jose Mourinho is a manager who organises his team in a way to win. Regardless of how others perceive his tactics, he has a formula for success, backed up by a string of major trophies under his managerial belt. His Chelsea side were accused of being negative this weekend when they beat Liverpool 2-0 on their own patch, and Andre Schurrle has been quick to hit back at those bad-mouthing the club.
The Germany international said that the others are jealous of their success, and it’s the winning that matters.
I agree with him.
First of all, Chelsea are not necessarily a negative side. They are the third highest scorers in the Premier League and have one of the highest shot counts. Even against Liverpool they mustered seven shots and two goals.
Mourinho adapts his tactics to collect points, and he did just that. With resolute defending and a tactical shrewdness, Chelsea were able to shut the Reds out with ease, despite Brendan Rodgers being the leading scorers in the division.
Liverpool fell into the same trap as Atletico Madrid did the game previous – flinging balls into the Chelsea box hoping for something to fall their way. That’s Mourinho’s bread and butter, and with rapid players the Blues were able to counter.
Mourinho is a winner, and those who throw abuse at him are usually bitter people who he has got the better of.
