Chelsea had a miserable season. Despite the return of Jose Mourinho, the Blues finished third in the Premier League table and failed to lift a trophy. Here are four players who need to be offloaded in the summer.
1) Mark Schwarzer
The old shot-stopper has stepped up admirably over the last few weeks after Petr Cech was ruled out with injury, but with Thibaut Courtois on the books of the Blues and likely to return to Stamford Bridge in the summer, there will be little room for the former Fulham keeper.
For me, he would be an obvious choice to show the door.
2) Demba Ba
Ba has never been one to set the league on fire, even when he was on top of his form with Newcastle. He has his strengths, but he floats in and out of games and struggles to lead the line when functioning alone, which is something Chelsea don’t need to stay patient with.
Ba has scored just five league goals this season.
3) John Obi Mikel
The Nigerian midfielder has again fallen into the background at Chelsea after the signing of Nemanja Matic. His ball retention skills are impressive, though he does not hold the necessary attributes to win Chelsea the league.
4) Fernando Torres
I think his time in west London is done. Those still hoping he will hit the kind of form he found at Liverpool are clutching at straws and I think a move back to La Liga beckons.
