According to reports in the British media outlet METRO, Arsenal could be dealt a huge blow before next weekend’s big clash against Manchester City as talisman German Mesut Ozil could be ruled out. The report claims that the 25 year old suffered an injury right towards the end of Arsenal’s frustrating 1-1 draw away to Leicester City. Ozil also thus missed Germany’s friendly match against Argentina which the Die Mannschaft lost 4-2 on in midweek on Wednesday.
METRO have also cited Daily mail saying that the German flew out late to meet up with his international teammates and meet national team coach Joachim Low who later confirmed that Ozil is ‘doubtful’ to play in the team’s Euro 2016 qualifier against Scotland on Sunday.
This throws a huge doubt for Ozil’s presence against reigning Premier League Champions Manchester City. The former Real Madrid midfielder hasn’t had the kind of impact that was expected of him but Arsenal fans would believe that their star can come to the party finally this season.
Ozil however spoke highly of the German national team as they cruised to the World Cup beating Argentina in the final at the Maracana. Ozil claimed in the Arsenal official website that lots of people in the media had their say and gave opinions but he is happy that his country came out on top despite some negative vibes.
“Lots of people in the media had their say before the tournament and gave many opinions, some positive and some negative, about the team and individual players. Things like us not being a team or not being mature enough, that some players wouldn’t’t battle enough or weren’t’t able to do certain things. We proved to everyone what strong character we have as a team.
