Ozil, Sanchez And Arsenal Fans React On Twitter Following Their 5-0 Demolition Of Aston Villa

Arsenal beat Aston Villa 5-0 and put themselves in the fifth spot with just a single goal difference separating them from Southampton, who are in the fourth position. Arsenal were completely dominant against Villa as Mesut Ozil stepped up and set the tone for the hosts. In the absence of Alexis Sanchez, the Gunners proved that they are no more dependent on the Chilean International.

Oliver Giroud started the party for the hosts with a clinical finish off a fantastic touch from Mesut Ozil. Theo Walcott doubled the lead with a shot into the bottom right corner. Ozil himself scored the third and Arsenal’s man in form Santi Cazorla converted the penalty to make it 4-0. Right-Back Hector Bellarin scored his first goal for Arsenal with a superb finish from the edge of the box.

On a personal note, 2014 hasn’t really been a year for Mesut Ozil to remember if not for Germany’s World Cup triumph. He has looked in the shadow of his former self at Arsenal and hasn’t quite lived up to his price tag. He also suffered an injury which keeps him out till the end of the year, however he has pushed himself to extra training sessions in a bid to return earlier than expected from the sidelines. The German international is nursing a knee injury but has recently revealed that he will wear a new brand of Predator Instinct Adidas football boots on his return for the Gunners.

Ozil wrote in Twitter, “Working very hard to get back on field so I can wear my new #PredatorInstinct!” Alexis Sanchez however has made sure that Arsenal are not missing Ozil. However the creative German midfielder’s return will boost the North London side in their quest for silverware this season.

German International To Replace Another German For Arsenal In January: £30m Move On The Cards

Mesut Ozil has been a serious dampner for Arsenal ever since signing from Real Madrid on the deadline day of the transfer window last season. The German play-maker has failed to live up to his price tag and the burgeoning expectations of the Emirates faithful. Hardly has Ozil set the ground running. Last week he picked up an injury which meant he would be out of action till the end of the year. And now English tabloid DAILY MAIL have published a story that the Gunners could be inclined to sell 25 year old.

The report claims that Bayern Munich are interested and manager Arsene Wenger might be well off to see the back of a flop multim million signing. Also the £42.5m is seriously unhappy as he hasn’t been able to play in his preferred number ten role. Wenger has used him out wide, which has clearly hindered his game style.

Arsenal would however replace the German with his national team mate- Sami Khedria who is reportedly unhappy at Real Madrid. Khedira had asked Real to increase his wages after winning the World Cup in Brazil, but the club has failed to do so. Khedira is in his last year of his contract and a move away from Bernabeu is clearly impending. Real however, wouldn’t want to lose the player on a free transfer next summer, thus a move in January is likely. Arsenal had significant interest in the central midfielder throughout the summer but a bis failed to materialize. Thus Wenger would jump at the opportunity to make some good profit and also get Khedira to replace Ozil in the upcoming winter transfer market.

Revealed: Arsenal scapegoat Mesut Ozil covers more ground than new signing Alexis Sanchez

Over the past few days, Arsenal fans have been criticizing Mesut Ozil for his lack of work ethic and his inability to show the kind of form that made the Gunners spend £42m to acquire his signature last term. Having said that though, manager Arsene Wenger has laughably used the German on the wings instead of the player’s preferred number 10 ten role.

Despite what seemed a great honeymoon following his move from the Spanish capital, the German hasn’t been able to live up to his expectations. The Marriage certainly seems to be on the rocks.

After getting a point against premier League Champions Manchester City last weekend, Arsenal were comprehensively beaten by Borussia Dortmund by 2-0 in the first match day of the Champions league  and Ozil’s inability to revive Arsenal’s fortunes and the play maker was substituted after just 62 minutes. However Ozil covered the most ground per minute according to stats.

So is it an unfair judgement of how Ozil featured in midweek?

5 Key Players Who Will Have Important Roles To Play For Arsenal This Season

Arsenal have strengthened their midfield and their attack over the transfer window, as they have increased their title hopes, if the bookies’ odds are anything to go by. In addition to their new players, some of their old, seasoned performers will have important roles to play. 5 important players for Arsenal this season will be:

1. Aaron Ramsey: His emergence last season was a huge lift for Arsenal. He found himself in the right place in the right time, and most importantly, took the right decision, as Arsenal were at the top of the table. It was no coincidence that when he was injured, Arsenal lost their hold over top spot and subsequently lost the title, as his innovativeness in midfield last season created chances that were impossible to replicate when he was injured for a major part of the back end of last season. He has already scored goals this season, as he has improved his finishing, looks to improve on Arsenal’s showing last season, and his individual success has pushed him to do even better this time around.

2. Per Mertesacker: Arsenal have only two world-class centre-backs, and the onus will be on Mertesacker to be the rock of Arsenal’s defence, not letting anything pass him by. He doesn’t have the pace to move forests and backwards too much, but he makes up for that with his ability to make good tackles and Marshall the defence around him. He has played this role to perfection earlier, but he will play more games this season if Arsenal don’t add to the number of their defenders, and having been at Arsenal for more than a season, he will be expected to take a leadership role and call the shots in defence.

3. Danny Welbeck: Post his £16m move to Arsenal on deadline-day, he will be under pressure to settle quickly and start scoring. He doesn’t yet have the fear of competition, as Giroud is out until the New Year. He has scored a brace for England when he was asked to lead the line. A team player by nature, he was wasted on the wing due to his ability to adapt to any place in the attack while at United. At Arsenal, he will relish the higher number of opportunities that he will get to play through the centre, where he can create a bigger impact. He will want to better his record of a goal per 9 matches, and at Arsenal, he will be able to rub off the slate and start afresh.

4. Alexis Sanchez: Having been shown the exit door at Barcelona, he will want to prove to his old club that selling him to make way for Luis Suarez was a huge mistake. He can play various roles in the team, he can score and assist for fun, and he has the pace and strength to succeed in the Premier League while playing for Arsenal. Playing with other top players and adapting to Arsenal’s methodology will be a piece of cake for a player like him. He will be given a free-roving role at Arsenal, as he can shoot, pass and cross with good judgement, as and when required.

5. Mesut Özil: Having spent a year at Arsenal where he ran out of steam after a good start during the heavy Christmas season, he will look to increase his work-rate so that he can contribute more, instead of tiring and running down the minutes to the end of games without making an impact. Arsenal will look to their most expensive purchase to deliver on his immense talent, and he could repay their faith by lighting up matches and securing trophies for the team.

Injury News: Arsenal suffer major blow as Ozil is ruled out for big game against Manchester City

According to reports in the British media outlet METRO, Arsenal could be dealt a huge blow before next weekend’s big clash against Manchester City as talisman German Mesut Ozil could be ruled out. The report claims that the 25 year old suffered an injury right towards the end of Arsenal’s frustrating 1-1 draw away to Leicester City. Ozil also thus missed Germany’s friendly match against Argentina which the Die Mannschaft lost 4-2 on in midweek on Wednesday.

METRO have also cited Daily mail saying that the German flew out late to meet up with his international teammates and meet national team coach Joachim Low who later confirmed that Ozil is ‘doubtful’ to play in the team’s Euro 2016 qualifier against Scotland on Sunday.

This throws a huge doubt for Ozil’s presence against reigning Premier League Champions Manchester City. The former Real Madrid midfielder hasn’t had the kind of impact that was expected of him but Arsenal fans would believe that their star can come to the party finally this season.

Ozil however spoke highly of the German national team as they cruised to the World Cup beating Argentina in the final at the Maracana. Ozil claimed in the Arsenal official website that lots of people in the media had their say and gave opinions but he is happy that his country came out on top despite some negative vibes.

“Lots of people in the media had their say before the tournament and gave many opinions, some positive and some negative, about the team and individual players. Things like us not being a team or not being mature enough, that some players wouldn’t’t battle enough or weren’t’t able to do certain things. We proved to everyone what strong character we have as a team.
