Manchester United Manager Reveals He Was Shocked By Arsenal

Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal has now raised questions about the “will to win” of his players after a shocking 3-0 defeat against Arsenal at the Emirates on Sunday. The Red Devils gave away all three goals in the opening 19 minutes of the game and the Dutchman talked about his side’s failure to execute the gameplan properly, along with a lack of aggression.

Louis van Gaal

Further, the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich manager also stated that he made his feelings known to the players at the half-time break and at the end of the game as well. In his interview, the United boss stated, “I didn’t expect that. I was surprised – not performing to our gameplan, not the will to win. I have not seen that when you are top of the league as United were at the beginning of the weekend]. So I was surprised, amazed – maybe that is a better word. When you give a team like Arsenal so much space to play football, then you know you will lose. We prepared ourselves to play more compact and not losing our aggression, so it was amazing for me. I am very disappointed.

Van Gaal further added that he had no explanation for the brace by Alexis Sánchez scored either side of Mesut Özil’s goal. He added, “I don’t know why it happened. I put the question at half-time and after the match. It is difficult for the players to answer at themoment because they are all in an emotional moment. We have lost, and lost in a way that you cannot lose when you are top of the league. The problems did not start at the back, they started in midfield. Their midfield players, especially Cazorla and Özil, had too much time and space. We also had space behind our defence. When you always put the pressure on, they cannot make their passes so easily. That was our problem in the first half. They were not aggressive. And you have to do it not only with the two in midfield but as a team. You have to be more compact. You need aggression at the moment you have a duel and Arsenal were much more aggressive.

EPL Team Of The Week Gameweek 5 Featuring Manchester United And Arsenal Stars

Premier League

The Stoke goalkeeper has had the hype around him for a long time and he is stepping up to fill Asmir Begovic’s place with style. He made a number of key stops to prevent Arsenal and although his side lost, it would have been a lot worse without Butland, who was arguably the man of the match.
The Watford right back had a great game as he managed to keep both Wayne Routledge and Jefferson Montero quiet all afternoon. The latter has caused a lot of defenders problems this season with his pace and direct running, therefore Nyom’s performance shouldn’t be overlooked. He also offered support going forwards and played a key role in Watford’s win.
John Stones has been the subject of a lot of speculation this summer, but he has put his head down and continued to put in consistent performances for Everton. On Saturday, he was incredible as Everton completely outclassed Chelsea in every department. It would have left Chelsea fans and Jose Mourinho wondering what could have been as Stones looks ready to make the step up to a bigger side.
The Dutch international has been playing out of position at centre back, but he is beginning to look like he is meant to play there. He was comfortable against Liverpool and didn’t look out of his depth against some excellent attacking players. He also managed to score at the other end, with a wonderfully placed finish.
The Southampton left back is the latest to come through the club’s famous youth academy and establish himself in the first eleven. He has become a regular in the side, which is bad news for Ryan Bertrand, who will be facing a real test to get his place back in the starting eleven when he returns from his knee injury. On Saturday, Targett played a key role in getting his side a clean sheet with some excellent tackles, while his reading of the game was excellent.

santi cazorla

Arsenal have had a mixed start to the season, but they gave an accomplished performance to beat Stoke on Saturday and they were unlucky not to score more than the two goals that they managed. Cazorla ran the game in the midfield and opened the opposition up on a number of occasions, including an assist for Olivier Giroud late on.
Mark Noble has been one of the most consistent players in the Premier League over the last few seasons and he once again played a vital role in a West Ham victory. He assisted Payet’s first goal and dominated Jack Colback and Vurnon Anita in the Newcastle midfield. His reading of the game was excellent, as was highlighted by his ability to intercept the ball on a number of occasions.

The Leicester winger had an incredible start to the season, contributing six goals in his opening five matches. The Foxes have had a great beginning to the campaign and Mahrez has been central to that. Every side needs a player who can produce in the final third and that is what Mahrez is to Leicester. At the weekend, he produced when the game was going against his side, which highlights his good mentality. He managed to produce two of the three goals and he was at the centre of all the Leicester attacking play.

The Everton forward has been a key part of the squad at Goodison Park over the last few seasons. He isn’t the most talented player, but he always puts in 100% and he can always be relied upon for a good number of goals every season. He came on after an early injury and never looked back as he became the first player to score a hat-trick against Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea side. His movement in the final third was always smart and he made the Chelsea defence look ordinary at times. The Scottish international is a good finisher when chances come his way and he displayed that on Saturday.
Dimitri Payet highlighted why he should be considered for the French national side after voicing his disappointment at being left out of the previous squad. He ran the show on Monday against Newcastle, scoring two goals. The first goal was a wonder strike, while the second showed his intelligent movement as he was in the right place at the right time. He could turn out to be one of the signings of the summer if he maintains his form.
After his breakthrough into the England squad, Jamie Vardy continues to impress for Leicester with his tireless style of play, while he is adding goals to his game. Last season he struggled to score, but he already has three goals and that is due to his improved movement in the final third. If he continues to play well for his club, Vardy should be a certainty for Euro 2016.

What Games Does Chelsea, Arsenal And Man City Stars Love

Football in the United Kingdom and around the world is one of the most famous sports there is. People are always watching these games from their homes, at the pub or bar, at a friends house or even on the Internet. You can watch your favorite football games via your cell phone or on your tablet device. We live in an amazing time.

But another activity that many people enjoy is online gambling via online gaming casinos like Royal Vegas online casino. And did you know that the soccer players on teams like Chelsea, Arsenal, and Man City also love to play online games via sites like Royal Vegas online casino?

So what are these players favorite games? This is what we are going to talk about today.

Chelsea Costa

First of all, we were happily surprised to see that almost all of the players who are we interviewed about playing online games said that they loved all the latest games Royal Vegas Casino online has to offer. They loved the whole arsenal in other words. They also said that they always seem to prefer the slots games over the table games. Of course, some of the players said that they like the table games because they actually enjoy also going into an actual casino to play table games, but slots were by far the most popular among the football players three teams.

The players from Chelsea loved Rugby Style, Lucky Zodiac and Forsaken Kingdom especially. They said that these games were really fun, and all of them definitely mentioned the rugby game!

The players from Arsenal football club love Terminator two, Max Damage and Cricket Star. It seems that these players were a little more in to cricket than their counterparts from Chelsea.

sergio aguero

The football players from Man City football club particularly love the Game of Thrones slots game that they could play on their mobile phones while they were waiting at practice or just hanging out at home. These players also thoroughly enjoyed So Much Sushi, Jurassic Park, So Much Candy, and surprisingly to many, Dolphin Quest.

All of the players when interviewed about this topic said that they also love to play Football Star. And this just makes sense doesn’t it? It is their sport after all, and besides playing the game, they love to play it in real life as well!

EPL Team Of The Week For Gameweek 4

Premier League

Tim Howard:

The Everton goalkeeper was on top form as Everton held Tottenham to a goalless draw at Goodison Park. He made six saves, including an excellent stop to prevent Harry Kane from scoring in a one-on-one opportunity. The American has had a tricky year, but he is beginning to become consistent once again and has started the season in great form. Everton have showed in their first four matches that they will be a danger once again this season and the Toffees could be contenders to break back into the top seven after the Europa League stunted their progress in the 2014/15 campaign.

Joel Ward:
Crystal Palace managed to shock the Premier League as they went to Stamford Bridge and inflicted only the second defeat at Stamford Bridge under Jose Mourinho. The Champions haven’t started the season well, but that shouldn’t take away from Palace’s performance as they were a different class on the day. Joel Ward has been a consistent player for the Eagles since their promotion back to the top flight and he was a major part of their victory. He was very good defensively, making some crucial tackles and blocks to prevent Chelsea. At the other end of the pitch, Ward contributed to attacks and made the crucial contribution of grabbing the winning goal with a header.
Jose Fonte:
Southampton have looked vulnerable defensively this season and need to strengthen after losing Toby Alderweireld. Virgil van Dijk looks set to come in and could be an excellent partner for Jose Fonte, who was brilliant at the weekend. Southampton’s back four limited Norwich City to just one shot on target, and a lot of that was down to Fonte’s organisation and leadership skills at the back. He was dominant aerially and there were signs that Southampton are coming back to form defensively and that will be crucial if they are to have another strong season.
Jan Vertonghen:
Tottenham haven’t had a great start to their season, picking up just three points to date. A positive for Spurs fans is that they are looking a lot stronger at the back, and the signing of Toby Alderweireld could turn out to be a masterstroke. His signing looks set to bring out the best in Jan Vertonghen, who looked classy and solid at the weekend. He starts a lot of the side’s attacks and has a great passing range for a centre back. His defensive display was excellent as he kept Romelu Lukaku quiet all afternoon with the striker not getting a sniff of the goal.
Aaron Cresswell:
West Ham have looked shaky at the back for the beginning of the season, but they were excellent at Anfield, keeping a clean sheet against one of the best attacks in the Premier League. He managed to get an assist, which showed his attacking quality going forward. He had a great first season at Upton Park and he is back to his former self on Saturday, putting in dangerous crosses and looking solid when defending.
Francis Coquelin:
The Arsenal defensive midfielder was back on form as his side managed to grab a tight win against ten man Newcastle. As they were facing ten men, Coquelin could be more expressive than usual and he displayed his impressive passing range. He was also excellent at breaking up the play and prevented Newcastle from having any meaningful possession. The Frenchman has been criticised in the early stages of the season, but he showed his worth to the side on Saturday and he will be hoping that this is the beginning of another brilliant run of form.
Manchester City have started the season in great form and have emerged as early favourites to regain their crown. Fernandinho had an under par second season, but he has started this campaign in excellent form. He was calm in possession and was the perfect foil for Yaya Toure as the pair took turns to join attacks. He scored the second goal of the game with a great finish, which was his second for the season already, highlighting Manchester City’s goal threat across the pitch.
Andre Ayew:
The former Marseille star showed his Champions League experience on Sunday as he played a key part in Swansea’s win over Manchester United. He managed to score his second header of the campaign and also get an excellent assist for the in form Bafetimbi Gomis. His play in the final third made him unplayable at times as he tortured a defence which had previously conceded no goals this season. In his early performances, he has showed that he could be one of the signings of the season.
Manuel Lanzini:
There has been a lot of talk about West Ham bringing in Dimitri Payet over the summer, but the addition of Manuel Lanzini could be equally impressive. The Argentine arrived at Upton Park with little fanfare, but on his Premier League debut, he showed his quality and played a pivotal role in the club’s convincing victory over Liverpool at Anfield. He scored a good goal and assisted another, which highlighted his ability in the final third. If West Ham can manage to get him and Payet on form consistently, they will cause a lot of problems in this division, as they have already showed against Arsenal and Liverpool.
Bakary Sako
Bakary Sako has been linked with a move to the top flight for years after an impressive spell in the Football League with Wolves. He finally made the jump this summer to join the revolution at Crystal Palace under Alan Pardew, which was a brilliant move for the winger. His pace made him difficult to deal with for Chelsea, and he tested Thibaut Courtois on a few occasions. He scored the opening goal after slotting in from Yannick Bolasie’s cross. He is beginning to claim a starting position in the Crystal Palace side and he will prove to be an excellent piece of business for Alan Pardew.
Bafetimbi Gomis:
The Swansea forward has stepped into Wilfried Bony’s shoes and is the in form striker in the division at the moment. He has scored nine goals in his last ten appearances, and he looks set to hit a high tally for the season with the service he is getting at the moment. He showed his finishing quality with the winning goal as he slotted past Sergio Romero in goal. It wasn’t pretty, but it was effective. His link up play makes him the perfect striker for Swansea, and he will continue to impress if he stays fit. The Frenchman could even make a shock return to the French side if he continues to put in match-winning performances.

Will Abou Diaby succeed in Marseille?

Diaby Marseille

With Abou’s time at Arsenal at an end, and the Ligue 1 underway, the injury prone midfielder starts his new adventure with Marseille in an attempt to resurrect his career. Having turned down an approach from West Brom, Diaby has gone home in his own words due to the medical help on offer from the French club. As well as what is undoubtedly an attempt to get back into the French national side, having made 16 appearances for Les Bleus in the past and being a starter throughout their 2010 World cup campaign. Abou will be desperate to get back to his best, but as we all know from his time at the Emirates it’s not so simple. So can he beat his injury problems and be the player we all knew he could have been?

The evidence says otherwise. Vassiriki Abou Diaby has had 42 injuries during his 9 year stint with Arsenal, which is the equivalent of one every 79 days. In fact the Daily Mail calculates that he missed 222 weeks out injured. It’s the sad case of a guy who was courted by the best clubs in the world as a youngster, but after all the investment it turns out that just one horror challenge in 2006 could ruin a whole decade’s opportunity. Aside from the 2009-10 season and a brief couple of stints here and there, Abou’s body never fully allowed him a stint in the side, and the Gunners will never know what could have been.

A challenge from Dan Smith in 2006 set the tone for a sad spell on the sidelines.
A challenge from Dan Smith in 2006 set the tone for a sad spell on the sidelines.

However, there are positives for Marseille and the towering midfielder. If he can indeed find some fitness, he still has time to make quite the career for himself. With deft feet and a physical presence which drew comparisons to Yaya Toure and Patrick Vieira, Abou Diaby could still be the heart of a Marseille side trying to get back to where they belong in the Champions League. If he can succeed, he even stands a chance of getting back into the national fold, and who knows may even be a dark horse for the Euro 2016 squad! After all, few can do this…

If his injuries persist, then of course it may be a sad end, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see retirement come calling. However, if he gets lucky and leaves his troubles behind him, who knows Arsenal may even regret letting him go.

I think I speak for all the fans when I say Good luck Abou, and thanks for the memories.

Crystal Palace v Arsenal: Preview, Lineups, Match Facts And Prediction

Crystal Palace v Arsenal

Sunday 16th August, 13:30

Crystal Palace welcome Arsenal to Selhurst Park this weekend hoping to add to their winning start to the Premier League season, after they beat Norwich at Carrow Road last week. Arsenal currently sit in the relegation zone after being defeated at home to West Ham but will be hoping to kick-start their season with a win at Palace.

Yohan Cabaye returned to the Premier League last week and looked as though he had never left. Cabaye announced his return by getting on the scoresheet and putting in a great performance to add to it. Cabaye showed a range of passing, with 78.8% of his passes being short, and 22.2% long range. Cabaye will be facing up against Santi Cazorla, who despite Arsenals loss, was at his creative best last weekend. Cazorla set up five goalscoring opportunities for his teammates and made 55 passes in the opposition half, the fourth most in the league.

Wilfried Zaha also scored last week and was one of the stand out players before he was withdrawn on 78 minutes. Zaha was a constant threat, completing five successful dribbles, and a top speed of 32.6km/h. Nacho Monreal should feel confident that he can deal with the pace of Zaha, as he himself clocked in at 34km/h, the eighth fastest speed recorded last week. Monreal won 61.1% of his duels last week and will be hoping to win the majority again against Crystal Palace.

The fastest player on the pitch according to the EA SPORTS Player Performance Index will be Yannick Bolasie. Bolasie recorded the third fastest speed in the division, 34.3km/h, and Arsenal right back Matthieu Debuchy will be wary of this. Debucy won 66.7% of his duels last week, but with a top speed of 29.5 km/h will have to be at his very best to contain Bolasie.

Olivier Giroud was the man chosen to lead the line for Arsenal last week against West Ham. Giroud put two of his four shots on target last week and will have to improve further in order to beat Alex McCarthy. McCarthy made the second most saves in the Premier League, four, and made the EA SPORTS Player Performance Index Team Of The Week. Giroud will provide a threat in the air to McCarthy, having won 66.7% of his aerial duels last weekend. Giroud is 17/4 to score first with

Surprise! Arsenal Could Complete Deal In The Coming Days

Joel Campbell

According to reports, Palermo are all set to once again make a move to sign Arsenal forward Joel Campbell, after talks with the Gunners did not materialize in July, according to reports from The Mail. The Serie A side were keen to sign the Costa Rican international for the upcoming season on loan, yet manager Arsene Wenger informed them that he was available for a permanent transfer.

The Italian outfit refused to meet the French manager’s £7.1m asking price and their interest in Campbell slowly faded.

However, it seems now that once again there is interest from the Romans, who are now looking to add the 23-year old winger to their squad this summer.

Campbell had a superb loan spell previously at Olympiakos and was impressive in the World Cup at Brazil as well, forcing his return to the Emirates last season.

Despite that things did not work as per plan and the youngster is back to probably have one last time to make things work, if a deal does not go through in the upcoming days.

(2015-16) Predictions For The Top 5 Leagues

With the footballing season just around the blocks, and transfers raining all over the clubs here are my predictions for the major leagues in the upcoming season.

  • Barclays English Premier League

Arguably the best league in the world had an uncharacteristic tittle saga last season with Chelsea showing great defensive resolve in the second half, and with the start they had it was always their tittle to lose. This season promises to be different. Not many teams have been able to retain the Premier League in the past years (even the Invincibles failed to achieve it). So, It is going to be a mammoth task for Chelsea, but they surely have the team and the Manager for that.

Last year’s runner up City have got some additions in the attack, but until their defensive situation is managed it doesn’t look like they will be able to mount a title challenge. Manchester United and Liverpool have bought many players and only time will tell how they settle in the premier league. The team, which really looks like giving Chelsea the run for their money is Arsenal F.C. They had a very solid ending to the last season, having settled their goalkeeping woes with the signing of Petr Cech and they had a brilliant pre- season setting momentum for the season ahead.

So, In the premier league it looks like a close battle between Chelsea and Arsenal for the title, (could go up-till the last match week). I know I’d put my money on Arsenal. The remaining top 4 should also be a good battle between the Manchester Clubs and Liverpool.

  • Liga Nacional de Fútbol Profesional (La Liga)

Historically being a two horse race, La Liga has found their third “dark” horse in Atletico Madrid. This summer Atletico Madrid has done some serious business with players like Jackson Martinez, Luciano Vietto added to their ranks. The loss of Adra Turan with surely haunt him and other midfielders will have to step up to make up for his absence.

Last season’s winners Barcelona have made a couple of signings who will only be able to play the second half of the season. Though the strength of the team still lies in the front 3 south American superstars. They would expect to start off the new season where they ended the last, scoring goals at will. Barca’s newly appointed captain Andres Iniesta will have to take up the mentor role which Xavi and Puyol had tremendously done before him.

The third horse of this race has a newly appointed manager in the dressing room and the kind of season Los Bloncos have will very much depend on Rafa Benitez. He needs to settle up the playing roles and positions of his superstar players Ronaldo and Bale. The onus will be on Sergio Ramos to take up Casillas’s leader role to post some serious threat to Barcelona’s tittle.

La Liga promises to be a great neck to neck battle between the three giants of Spanish and European football. At this moment Barcelona tips away with the title for me due to the stability they have in their team. (Expect some big upsets form Sevilla FC after their spree of intelligent buys).

  •  The Bundesliga

For the past three years Bayern Munich have been running away with the Bundesliga title, and it wouldn’t be too early to say that they are surely on track to make it four in a row. They have made some good transfers by replacing Bastian Schweinsteiger with the fiery Chilean Arturo Vidal, who’s widely regarded as one the best midfielders in the world over the last few years. They also added Brazilian Douglas Costa to provide more cover on the wings after both Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben suffered injury-riddled campaigns. Basically, health is the only thing that can stop the Bayern machine from rolling onto yet another title. If they can finally get the likes of Robben, Ribery, David Alaba and Thiago Alcantara to play the full season, they should be virtually unstoppable.

The only other thing that can remotely come close to hindering Bayern in their aspirations is the surprise package of the last season Wolfsburg. They had a tremendous season scoring 72 goals only behind the champions Bayern who scored 80. The main goal of Wolfsburg now is to make sure the their instrumental playmaker Kevin De Bruyne stays in the squad.

Now coming from last year’s surprise to last year’s disappointment. Under their new coach Thomas Tuchel, Borussia Dortmund will be looking to dust off last season’s blues with a solid performance. The German core of Rues, Hummels and Gundogan have remained intact and will have to step up to their reputations.

Event though Bayern Munich looks very likely to retain their title, you never know with the game of football. A couple of injuries, a bad start and inspired performances from Wolfsburg could cause a big upset. May be Lord Bendtner could conjure up a miracle. It still is Bayern’s tittle to lose.

  • Serie A

Going into the new Serie A season, it’s very easy to wonder if the Italian league is on the up. A Champions League final appearance of Juventus back in May showed that there’s still talent in the league, and this summer has seen the other sides strengthening significantly too. They’re closing in on the Premier League in the co-efficient table, looking to overtake them and regain their fourth Champions League spot.

Last season’s Champions Juventus have undergone a big change this summer. The side that guided them to the Champions League final has been torn apart, with some big stars moving on. They allowed Carlos Tevez to move back to Boca Juniors, while Arturo Vidal left for Bayern to fill the void left by Bastian Schweinsteiger. Andrea Pirlo also departed, heading for New York and MLS. They did respond in a pretty impressive way, signing the likes of Mario Mandzukic, Paulo Dybala, Sami Khedira and Simone Zaza. Keeping hold of Paul Pogba will be key and they seem in no mood to let go of their star man, despite rumours of huge bids from Barcelona, Real Madrid and Man City.

That said, there’s little to inspire you to back anyone else. The transfer window may have hit Juve hard, but they’ve bounced back. Roma lost Andrea Bertolacci to AC Milan, and no other side have had a major addition since then.

Juventus have no serious competition when it comes to the Serie A title, although you can always expect a miracle.

  • Ligue 1

The league where rich gets richer. Paris Saint-Germain after clinching their third title in a row have added more firepower in their team with the scoops of Benjamin Stambouli and Di Maria. The rest of the championship-winning team is relatively unchanged – Yohan Cabaye and Thiago Motta are the only notable departures.

Lyon caught almost everyone by surprise as they finished runners-up to PSG last season. They did so in large part because of the incredible goal-scoring exploits of striker Alexandre Lacazette. The 24-year old Frenchman had a breakout season with 27 goals to lead all of Ligue 1. Keeping him on board will be their priority

Monaco has been a hotbed of transfer activity this season. Geoffrey Kondogbia and Yannick Ferreira Carrasco, two key contributors last season, were both sold off for eight-figure sums, and the funds from their sales were then re-invested in a host of young, up-and-coming talent. Veteran midfielders Joao Moutinho and Jeremy Toulalan are still around, though, and will provide a solid foundation to help the growing youth movement in the club.

PSG is very much on course to make it four seasons in a row and it would have to take something special to overthrow the Parisians from power. The onus is on the likes of Lyon, Monaco, St. Etienne to take PSG’s throne.
