Ryan Giggs has apparently been given his first role as Manchester United assistant – to ensure the first team at Old Trafford is populated with a strong number of home-grown players. While in charge of the club, Giggs gave Tom Lawrence and James Wilson their debuts and will be used to develop some of the club’s other young talents. Here are three young players that we could see in the first team next season.

Louis van Gaal is an experienced-yet-ambitious manager and his appointment at Manchester United was a stroke of genius by the Old Trafford board, in my opinion. The Netherlands boss will attract big players, be able to develop the young talent and ultimately guide United back to success, I am sure of it. His Premier League journey is said to be ready to start with a triple signing worth £100 million. Will it make them title contenders again?

Germany were handed a blow last week as it was announced that Marco Reus would miss the World Cup because of injury. The Borussia Dortmund playmaker was supposedly on the radar of new Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal  for a potential move this summer, so they may have been left sweating a little bit, but with reports are telling us that he is set to join Barcelona, that sweat could turn into a full blown break down. There were rumours about the Mexico international being used as a makeweight to land Luke Shaw of Southampton, but recent reports are suggesting that he will be off to Serie A side Inter Milan. My only worry is that he is now past his best having spent the majority of his time at Old Trafford sat on the bench.

With Patrice Evra’s time at the top of football looking likely to end over the next few years, those in charge of Manchester United will be forced into signing a replacement to boss the left-back berth for years to come. This has naturally seen the Red Devils linked with Luke Shaw of Southampton, but I suggest they forget about the teen England international and move for this player.
