Arsenal lacking the va-va-voom of yesteryear

“I want to be in a club that is able to win the big titles year after year,” were the words of former Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas during a recent “interview” with Sport magazine. The Spaniard denied making the comments on his Twitter account but even though the words may be fake, is there a hint of truth shrouded in the, apparent, wording of the Barcelona midfielder?

Barcelona at a Crossroads

By all accounts, on Saturday Barcelona tore through Osasuna, spanking the Pamplona side 8-0. While this may have added flames to the fire that is the non-competitive nature of La Liga, it also added to the thought that this Barcelona side is one of the best that the world has ever seen. But while everything on the pitch seems as rosy as ever, off the pitch the club appears to be at a crossroads.

Liverpool get a wake up call from Spurs

This meeting has been called after witnessing the farce of a performance from Liverpool at White Hart Lane yesterday afternoon. To call the performance lame would be both an understatement and a disservice to Harry Redknapp and his team. To cut an unfortunately long story short, Kenny Dalglish’s men were stuffed four goals to nothing by a well-organized, hard-working and dominant Spurs side.

Two types of genius

The two greatest footballers in the world are Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. Both play in La Liga and both are icons around the globe.Yet how can two such wonderful attacking players have equal success but have such contrasting styles?

Sorry Sorry Arsenal. Should Wenger go?

So, what can I say? Arsenal score five goals in a game and still ended up losing 4-3. Unbelievable! I think it goes without saying that Arsene Wenger is hanging on by a thread to his near 15 year tenure at Arsenal. How ironic would it be if what transpired to be Wenger’s last game as Arsenal manager was a 4-3 loss to the team that he defeated in his first match as Arsenal manager back in 1996?
