3 Reasons Why Arsenal Should Never Sell This Spanish Star

Arsenal seem to have been rocked with a transfer deal that would see one of their star players move away from the club in the summer. According to reports from various sources, Atletico Madrid have spoken to Santi Cazorla’s advisers about a summer move from Arsenal.

Cazorla has been one of the standout players for Arsenal this season and losing him would be a big blow, especially to a squad which requires creativity to get the wins. Selling the midfielder for any amount of money would be a big mistake from Arsenal and here are 3 reasons why:

Experience is important

He is 30 years old and that could be one of the reasons why he might want to shift to a league which is not as physically demanding as the Premier League, but experience is a huge factor for any team and in Santi, Arsenal have a player who has bags of it.

They have a pretty young team coming through and they would need to keep as many old heads as they can to help the youngsters come through the team. The likes of Coquelin, Akpom and Paulista all need some wise heads around them and Santi could be one of the leaders who can help these players.

Arsene also does not seem to have a problem giving older players contract extensions as seen with Arteta, so why can’t Cazorla be given one?

One of the best performers for the Gunners this season

Thanks to stats from Squawka.com, Cazorla has ranked as one of the best midfielders not only at Arsenal this season but also in the Premier League. He provides 2.31 key passes per game, more than any other midfielder in the team, just to highlight how good that is, Mesut Ozil is the next best ranked player with 1.8 key passes per game.

He has also played the most number of minutes and games for Arsenal among the midfielders which just shows he still does have the legs to play in the Premier League with 24 appearances in the league alone. He has also scored 6 goals in the league, which is more than Ozil, Ramsey, Wilshere and Rosicky, just showing how good he still is.

Multi-talented & can play in a range of positions

Cazorla is one of those players, who can play in almost any position in attack, although his best work comes from the attacking end, his performances in midfield have been great as well. Cazorla can play as a winger or a central attacking midfielder or just behind the striker linking up with Giroud.

Losing out on such a versatile and talented player, who is also peaking during this time, could be a huge blow for Arsenal, keeping him could be the key to winning something not only for this season but also for the next season.

Transfer Battle: Chelsea And Atletico Madrid Go Head-to-Head For Spanish Wonderkid

According to the reports, Chelsea face stiff  competition from La Liga champions Atletico Madrid in the race to sign Spanish wonderkid Dani Ceballos.

Chelsea are in the race now for the signature of a young Spanish starlet from Real Betis. The Blues have been tracking the progress of winger Dani Ceballos for some time now and Portuguese boss Jose Mourinho has plans to bring him to Stamford Bridge. The 18 year who is part of the Spanish Under-19 team is currently priced at £6m and Chelsea are quite keen of completing a deal for him with the Spanish side.

Another club which has shown its interest in the young winger are current Spanish champions Atletico Madrid who have stepped up their chase for the player, as a reaction to Chelsea’s efforts to sign him. Diego Simeone may have big plans in mind for the youngster with the Spanish champions looking to retain their title. Also, the temptation of the Champions League might impact the youngster’s decision to make a move to either of the clubs. Though reports in Spain have suggested that both clubs have not made any proper bid for the player at the moment and have only expressed their interest in him. As the race intensifies both clubs will try to make a quick swoop for him as he is one for the future.

On the other hand, Real Betis do not wish to let go of their talented star and are preparing to offer him a new long-term contract to keep him at the club. The former Sevilla man has made 12 appearances for the Spanish side this year and netted once. Also, he has made 4 appearances for their B-side and Betis would be hoping he does sign the dotted line and either stay at the club for a long time or just for a rise in his market value. Further which one of them will seal the deal for the youngster remains to be seen as time will only tell.

£28.5m Manchester United Target Updates On His Future

Diego Godin

Manchester United target Diego Godin has revealed that he is not interested in moving anywhere at the moment and wants to stay at Atletico Madrid.

The defender, who has a £28.5million buy-out clause is contracted with the club until 2018, has been linked with a possible move to the Premier League in recent times despite their manager Diogo Simone rubbishing the rumours. With United struggling defensively this season, Louis Van Gaal could launch a bid for the Uruguayan international.

However, Godin said that he remains committed to his current club and  could return back to his country at the twilight of his career, “Time will tell and it’s hard to know where I’ll be in the future, but I’d like to remain with Atletico for many years.

“Right now I feel I’m having the best time of my career and see retirement as a long way off.

“But it’s true I’m attracted by returning to my country and I’d like to go back there at some point, to return the affection everyone has shown towards me during my career.”

Godin has been a key player for Atletico in the last few years as they have lifted the Copa Del Rey, La Liga and UEFA Europa League with him in the defence. He has formed a formidable partnership with fellow South American Joao Miranda which has attracted a lot of interest from outside. It was always going to be hard for Atletico to keep hold of their players after a season like last time, but fortunately, a few of them want to stay at the club like Godin.

Since joining Atletico in 2010 from Villareal, Godin has made 187 appearances for his side and has been an absolute pillar at the heart of their defence. It would take a huge bid for him to leave Atletico as he is undoubtedly at the peak of his powers at the moment. He would be an ideal signing for United as they have lacked a real leader at the back since the departure of Nemanja Vidic.

Chelsea Block Transfer Move For Striker As They Want Cash

On-loan Chelsea striker Fernando Torres’ return to Atletico Madrid could be blocked by Chelsea if at all his current suitors AC Milan decide to cancel his two-year loan deal as Chelsea want a transfer fee for the Spaniard.

According to reports earlier in the week, the former Liverpool man’s future at Milan was in doubt as he has been lacklustre in his time at Italy. The 30-year old has scored just once in his 10 appearances and has looked nothing short of poor on the pitch. With the need to sign a good striker, manager Filippo Inzaghi could offload Torres who is a high earner at the club despite him joining just four months ago.

Popular Spanish journalist Guillem Balague revealed, “Fernando Torres definitely wants to go back to Atletico and they also want him, but there is a problem as he can’t go out on loan for a second time this season.

“That means Chelsea will allow Torres to leave for a small transfer fee, although Atletico are not prepared to pay anything. If Chelsea want to receive a transfer fee they won’t get it from Atletico.

“Due to the money he earns, Torres and Chelsea could negotiate a pay-off and he could then leave on a free.

“That’s something that could be negotiated,” he added.

With Diego Costa, Loic Remy and Didier Drogba at the club, it’s unlikely that Chelsea will keep Torres.

Former club Liverpool being linked with a move

Torres has also been linked with a possible move back to his former club Liverpool where he enjoyed such good goal scoring form. Brendan Rodgers’ side have struggled for options upfront after Daniel Sturridge’s injury. The likes of Mario Balotelli and Rickie Lambert haven’t impressed.

However, considering Torres’ poor form, it’s unlikely that Rodgers will take a risk despite the media linking him with Liverpool as the former Swansea manager has already made quite a few errors in the transfer market. Rodgers spent more than £100m after the departure of Luis Suarez but has failed to replicate the good performances of last season.

Arsenal plot January move for Italian forward

Accoding to reports from Spanish Media Outlet AS Sport, Arsenal are preparing a January bid for struggling Atletico Madrid winger Alessio Cerci. The 27-year-old right winger had joined the Spanish club from Torino earlier in the summer but has failed to live up his expectations of his season’s exploits. The reason has been simple, Atletico manager Diego Simeone has played summer signings Antoine Griezmann and Mario Mandzukic as attacking positions which has meant that Cerci has fallen further down the pecking order.

Cerci is thus frustrated and in a recent interview he claimed that he doesn’t have the patience to wait for his chances on the sidelines. Thus a move away from the Spanish capital is set on the cards with Arsenal very much in the running for the player. Cerci said,We’ll see what happens with Atletico from now until January, I didn’t go to Madrid to not play. I was always relied upon in Italy, I don’t have the patience to sit and stay on the bench.”

Simeone also reckons that a mjority of clubs have targeted Cerci, “To me it does not hurt to talk. It’s not a thought to the coach. No train individually and collectively train. I read the papers and see that Manchester United, Arsenal and Inter all want Cerci. That must mean that Atletico are one hell of a team”

There is no doubt that Arsenal can land the player and would be a great transfer by Arsene Wenger. The Gunners are struggling with just 23 points 15 games and are currently sixth in the Premier League standings. Cerci would no doubt make it into the starting eleven at Arsenal despite the plethora of talent at the Emirates side. Moreover, Cerci capable of scoring goals would also add an attacking dimension as an attacking striker.

Diego Godin To Manchester United Talks Rubbished By Diego Simeone

Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone has rubbished transfer talks regarding defender Diego Godin who has been linked with a move to Manchester United.

Godin has been excellent in the last few seasons and his stock seems to have risen so much that even a €20m bid will not be enough to sign him according to Simeone who said, “Twenty? For Godin? It must be a mistake.”

The Uruguayan international is said to have a £28.5m release clause in his contract which runs till 2018, but reports have emerged that he could cost less than that fee. Atletico have lost a host of star players who departed the club this summer, so it’s highly unlikely that they will sell any more players, especially when it’s someone like Godin who has be the spine of the team in their success story during the last few years.

Atleti sold the likes of Diego Costa, Filipe Luis, David Villa and Diego in the last transfer window for hefty fees and don’t find themselves in a situation where they have to sell. On the other hand, Manchester United strengthened their defense as they signed Marcos Rojo, Luke Shaw and Daley Blind, but injuries coupled with poor form has led to weak defensive displays despite the side occupying a top four spot.

Cheaper alternative could be the solution

Manager Louis Van Gaal will mostly likely strengthen in January in the defensive areas if the injury list continues to be long. In the last few months, the likes of Mats Hummels, Gerard Pique and Godin have been linked with United, but it remains to be seen if they’ll spend huge money in the transfer window. Van Gaal does have the option of signing Ron Vlaar if  the asking price of the targets increase in January as he spent close to £150m in the last window.

221 Clean Sheets In 479 Games: Chelsea Set To Lose Their Legendary Goalkeeper

Atletico Madrid have identified Chelsea’s Petr Cech as a January transfer target as the Czech Republic international has grown disillusioned at Stamford Bridge. The 32-year old is now second fiddle to Belgian shot-stopper Thibaut Courtois after his impressive performances last season with Atletico Madrid.

Cech And Courtois
Cech And Courtois

Atletico’s manager Diego Simeone could sign  Cech as he wants experience among the ranks in the the goalkeeping position. Courtois’ departure has left a hole in the defence as the 22-year old was a key player in the Atleti defense last season.

Cech has been with Chelsea for the last 10 years and will go down as one of the best goalkeepers in the club’s history. He has kept 221 clean sheets in 479 appearances for the club after joining from Rennes for €13m. This season, he made his 1st appearance against Arsenal after Courtois had to be taken off due to a head injury.

He had recently revealed that he doesn’t want to sit on the bench, “There is no time for me to sit on the bench and not play. If the situation doesn’t improve I will have to find a solution.”

Goalkeepers tend to get better with age, so Cech could still have sometime left in his career since he is only 32 years of age. He is contracted until 2016, so Simeone will not have to fork a huge amount of money for him. If Cech does leave the club, then 42-year old Mark Schwarzer will be the backup for Chelsea.

Atletico Madrid lost a host of players in the summer after winning the league title. Along with Courtois, Diego Costa and Filipe Luis made the switch to Stamford Bridge from Vicente Calderón. They find themselves 5th in the League, 5 points behind league leaders Barcelona, after a slow start compared to last season. Simeone had little chance of retaining Courtois as Jose Mourinho felt that the Belgian had done enough in 2 seasons at Atletico to start in goal for Chelsea ahead of Cech.

Manchester United To Seal A Sensational Player Plus Cash Deal For La Liga Star

Joao Miranda

Manchester United are considering a player plus cash deal for Atletico Madrid defender João Miranda. Manager Louis Van Gaal wants to add quality and experience at the back in the next transfer window and the Brazilian could be target in January.

Atletico Madrid want close to £24m for the 30-year old defender and Van Gaal could add Juan Mata in the deal to convince Simeone to part ways with the experienced defender. United were linked with the likes of Eliaquim Mangala, Mats Hummels and Mehdi Benatia during the summer, but a move failed to materialize. Van Gaal will now turn his attention to the Brazilian who might get tempted to play in the Premier League with the added bonus of higher wages.

United’s defence has been really shaky so far and the addition of Miranda in January will be welcomed by most of the United fans as he was instrumental in Atletico’s league winning campaign last season. Miranda and Godin forged a formidable partnership in the defence that was the best in the league. Atletico fell just short of winning the Champions League.

He decided to stay with Atleti during the summer despite the fact that the club were willing to listen to offers for him. Atletico have lost a host of players after winning the League last season and unless a strong offer comes in for Miranda, Simeone will not want to sell he defender for cheap.

Miranda has all the qualities of a Premier League defender as he is quick, can chip in with a goal or two and is a solid tackler when it comes to last ditch defending. He has made 95 appearances for Atletico Madrid after joining from Sao Paulo in 2011 and is at the peak of his career right now. A move to Manchester United will also depend on how well they are placed in the league come January, so he’ll have plenty of time to decide on whether he wants to stay or move.
