[Stats] Arsenal’s Breakthrough Superstar Tops The Charts For Interceptions And Tackles

Arsenal breakthrough midfield superstar Francis Coquelin has come out from nowhere to now become a key man in Arsene Wenger’s starting eleven. The 23 year old Frenchman was on loan at Charlton Athletic earlier this season and had previously just started 9 Premier League games during his 5 year spell at the Emirates. After being summoned back to north London, earlier this season from Charlton due to an injury crisis, Coquelin quickly cemented his place in the defensive midfield role.

French compatriot Mathieu Flamini was dropped as the hard-tackling youngster was picked over him and has started each of The Gunner’s last seven Premier League games. Squawka recently analyzed some fantastic statistics showing the importance of Coquelin to the Arsenal side. In 2015, the youngster has made more interceptions than any player in the top 5 European leagues which is an accomplishment in itself and has also won more tackles than any other Premier League player. With such performances under his belt, Coquelin is expected to sign a big money deal with the club in the near future.

Done Deal: Arsenal complete midfielder transfer

Arsenal midfielder Francis Coquelin has joined Championship side Charlton Athletic on a one month loan deal. the Gunners released a public statement in their official website which read: French midfielder Francis Coquelin has joined Championship side Charlton Athletic on loan for a month..Everyone at Arsenal wishes Francis well for his time at The Valley.

The 23-year-old has made 43 Arsenal first-team appearances but has failed to garner a starting eleven place for the North London side. Coquelin returned to the Gunners this season having spent the 2013/14 campaign on loan at German side Freiburg. The midfielder got significant game time making 24 appearances and scoring once for the German outfit. Before his experience in Germany Coquelin spent a  season-long loan with French Ligue 1 club Lorient in 2010/11.

It is believed that manager Arsene Wenger believes that the young Frenchman will gain experience. Coquelin, who can also play at full-back joined Arsenal in 2008. he has also gone on to represent France at Under-21 level. Coquelin will now be eligible to make his debut for the Addicks in Tuesday’s Championship match at Leeds United.

The plethora of talent that Arsenal have at their disposal is being marred by frequent injuries. Wenger though has always been a visionary and has recast-ed young talents into future superstars. Coquelin might not feature for the London time any time any sooner and the move personally would be a great learning curve.
