Manchester United Target £35m Defender For A Deadline Day Deal

Manchester United have been determined to improve from last season’s performance with new manager Louis van Gaal looking to ensure Champions League football for next season. Van Gaal had also previously suggested that his sights are on the FA Cup, that the club has failed to win, for a period of ten years now. To fulfill such big ambitions, the Dutchman is looking to add more quality to his side, after the signing of world class summer targets, who have currently earned United, third spot in the Premier League table. The Red Devils manager feels there is still scope of improvement in the defence and a need of more defensive additions in his squad before the January transfer window closes.

Keeping this in mind, the Premier League side have been talking to French Champions Paris Saint-Germain for a £35m swoop for their Brazilian defender Marquinhos, who has not able to get too much game time this season, since the arrival of David Luiz from Chelsea.

On the other hand, Louis van Gaal’s no.1 target this season, Kevin Strootman, recently suffered an injury to his knee once again and is out for the season. Now the Dutch manager hopes to push through a £35m deal for the 20 year old PSG defender Marquinhos. Apparently the two clubs have been in talks over the past two weeks and the young Brazilian is keen for a change and would welcome a move to Old Trafford, to play in the Premier League.

This would definitely ease the manager’s defensive worries, as the current United defence has been shaky at times. The two clubs have time till midnight tonight to confirm a deal for the Brazilian who moved to PSG from Italian giants Roman in 2013. The center-back has made a total of 28 appearances for the Ligue 1 champions and managed to net thrice.
