Douglas Costa to Manchester…but Red or Blue?

The Brazilian starlet has been heavily linked with United over the past year, but Sir Alex Ferguson is set to renew his interest this summer, as he looks to battle it out with local rivals City for his signature.

The midfielder is in fine form for Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk and was excellent this season, helping the side reach the prominence of a Champions League quarter final.

His agent has suggested United have been trailing the attacking maestro for some time, but also hinted that there are other suitors as well, he said ‘There is much interest around Douglas – he was one of the best young players in this season’s Champions League,’ said Bottega.

‘Several clubs are following him and there was some contact, but no concrete proposal has yet arrived.

‘Manchester United have liked him for a long time and although Shakhtar are a good team and are doing very well, it is normal that if we get important offers for the player, these will be taken into account,’ he stated, adding he believes Costa could fit in at a ‘top team’.
