Not a classico!

Everyone already knew the rivalry between Barcelona and Real Madrid was huge, but no one anticipated the 1st leg clash in the Champions League on Wednesday could be that bad.

The game itself was not what you would expect, gracious football from two of the most entertaining teams on the planet with incredible talent on both sides, no, instead the game was full of pre-madonnas falling at every touch possible and rolling around in pain as though someone from the crowd had took aim and fired, there were dives Olympic swimmers would have been proud of.

If a Barcelona player fell the whole team would rush to the referee and all the substitutes would get up and complain as well, this was vice versa and carried on throughout the game, just to let you know the game was still 0-0 at this point, this was all that happened.

At half time Barcelona substitute keeper Pinto was sent off for arguing leaving Barcelona with 1 less sub not 10 men on the pitch.

The worst dive of the night was Daniel Alves , the slightest of touches caused him to roll and Real Madrid centre half Pepe was shown a straight red, Barcelona were obviously not happy with such an outrageous challenge, Real Madrid players contested to the referee and another fight occurred, Jose Mourinho complained and was sent to the stands, he did have a point though, his team would have to play Barcelona again with 10 men.

Barcelona as you would expect started to create chances against Jose’s men and the deadlock was broken in the 76th minute when who else but Lionel Messi latched onto a cross to score his 51st of the season, another goal came in the 86th minute which was Lionel Messi again, this time this was all him, a mesmerising run through 3 or 4 players before slotting pass the helpless Casillas to end the match and probably end the tie.

Jose Mourinho’s comments after the game gave the impression that he thought Barcelona are treated differently to everyone else and all the other teams have no chance. The comments made on UEFA being biased towards Barcelona is set to land Jose in trouble as Barcelona have complained about Mourinho’s outburst.

Each team has also complained about each other for simulating throughout the game, along with complaints of the pitch invasion and the Real Madrid fans pelting objects onto the pitch.

After all that, it is only half time in this tie although it may be over, what a shame that all this play acting may masquerade what was an incredible 2nd goal from undoubtedly the best player in the world, thank god for Messi.

I taught Messi that! Over and out.
