Ahead of the new season I made a rare visit to Sky’s offices and bumped into a bloke by the name of Jeff Stelling.

If you’re wondering what’s he’s like? He’s exactly what you’d expect – funny, charming and absolutely football mad!!!

A great start to the 2011/12 football season for me then and a few days later I covered my first game for Sky Sports Soccer Saturday. It involved one of the most unfortunate clubs from the last campaign, Plymouth Argyle, who were relegated out of League One because of a 10 point deduction. After going into administration, things haven’t improve much for the Cornwall club as they remain in financial trouble – the players haven’t been paid this month! But at least the long trip up to Shropshire was worth it for the Argyle fans as Carl Fletcher snatched a deserved point with a powerful drive in the last minute. Next game on Tuesday night is at Hartlepool…. are you watching Mr. Stelling?!
